Capt. S. H. Oliver

Augusta, Ga.

Sir,
It is stated in a report made to the Chief of Ordnance that the working time of the iron-works at Etowa and Atlanta is curtailed to one third in consequence of a want of sufficient supplies of coal, occasioned by some interference with the transit of the coal trains on the Nashville & Chattanooga Rail Rd.
The uninterrupted operations of these works is of great importance to the Govt. and you will ascertain if the R. R. authorities will not afford the necessary facilities for forwarding supplies of coal. If required the authority of the Govt. must be employed on the roads not owned by the State of Georgia.
You will also, if it be found necessary obtain the requisite authority from the Governor of Georgia to facilitate the transportation of coal on the Western & Atlantic R. Rd.
A. C. Myers, Q. M. General
