I have received the following telegram
from Lieutenant General J. C. Pemberton. |
The Southern {(of
Mississippi)} Rail Road requires iron and chairs for ten miles
of track, and one hundred and fifty kegs of spikes to make it safe and
efficient. General Johnson informs me you are the proper person to
whom to make such application. This army cant be supplied unless this
Road is put in proper order. Designate the road from which to take the
iron and chairs, and how the spikes can be obtained. |
