A. Q. Master |
Beaver Dam Depot |
|
Sir, |
The horses sent to be recruited at Beaver
Dam Depot must not be allowed to quarter within enclosures intended
for the culture of corn or oats, nor must the men be allowed to
trespass on wheat fields, and tear down fences in order to graze their
horses, or to pass through the fields. I reiterate the order that wood
cut for the Rail Road must not be burnt by the men. Use your utmost
authority to carry out these instructions, if any disregard of them is
shown, inform General Clinton A. Adjutant General, General Lee's Head
Quarters, and ask for a guard to sustain you in the execution of your
orders. |
