Quartermaster General's Department |
Richmond, March 18th 1862 |
|
John S. Rowland, Esq |
Superintendent {Western
& Atlantic RR} |
Atlanta, Ga. |
|
Sir, |
I have received your letter of the 14th
inst. and must express to you my gratification at your vigilance in
the matter you present to my notice. |
I have to ask that you will give orders on
your route, and have the same communicated to other roads, that all
stores marked for a public agent shall not under any circumstances be
delivered to private parties, on any representation whatever from such
parties. |
Major Claiborne is Chief Depot Commissary
at Richmond, and whatever freight is marked to him, should be held or
forwarded as he may direct or delivered to other Commissary on his
order. |
The sugar you refer to was expected here.
Some of it will be stopped at Atlanta. |
