| I have received your communication of the
7th inst. inclosing an estimate of an engineer of the cost of the
plank road and a report of the advantages of water carriage from
Clarksville to So. Boston. |
| I approve the suggestions in regard to the
use of bateau upon the Dan, and authorize the construction of forty
(40) boats of the kind and capacity you designate. |
| You will report in detail in regard to
wagons and mules, you have been instructed to procure. |
