Sir, |
1st. Upon the arrival at your post, of all trains, and
cars, loaded with Government freight, which requires reshipment, before
bulk is broken, you will carefully inspect, and compare the same, with
the manifests and trough freight lists. |
2d. You will take particular account of all losses or
damage, which may have occurred, while the stores were in transit
noting the same upon the manifests, or freight lists, for the
information of the next inspecting officer, and you will also promptly
report to this office the amount, and character of such loss, or damage,
and the name of the Rail Road which is responsible therefor. |
3d. In all cases, you will briefly note the species of
Government freight and the names of the Consignors and Consignees, so
that if inquiry be instituted, in regard to any particular shipment, you
can report, whether it has arrived, and been re-shipped at your post.
Unless specially called for, no report under this paragraph, need be
returned to this office. |
