|
Captain, |
You will please proceed to Savannah, Ga.
and take charge of Government transportation by railroad over the
Atlantic & Gulf Rail Road, the Charleston & Savannah and the
North Eastern Rail Roads; giving your attention to freight shipped by
any through arrangement from Macon to Wilmington via Savannah and
Charleston. |
It is not intended that you shall interfere
with transportation when no interruption occurs, or when all the wants
of Government are met, but it is your duty, so far as in your
power lies to remedy all irregularities and to see that no detention
of Government freight takes place. |
You will appeal directly to the managers
of Rail roads in any emergency and ask of them the aid you require. |
Your personnel attention must be given to
the duties entrusted to your charge; it will be necessary therefore
for you to visit the various points on the routes described above,
which you will do at your discretion and without further orders from
the Q. M. G. You will not absent yourself from your post, however,
without the business can be more promptly assigned by your personal
attention. |
I remain Captain Very Respectfully |
