I regret to learn, from Wilmington, that
your Road refuses to send any more cotton for the Government until
certain freight is paid. I know nothing of the freight referred to but
will have it attended to as soon as brought to my notice. The
Government should not suffer at a critical moment like this by a mere
dispute with a subordinate Agent about the payment of a small bill. |
