It is reported that soldiers having
transportation from Selma to Meridian are charged one dollar each for
passage upon the Steamers plying between Demopolis and McDowell. |
This must be corrected, and you are authorized
to contract with the Alabama & Mississippi Rivers Rail Road
Company for the transportation of soldiers over the River at the
Government expense. |
You will report such contract as you may
make to Major F. W. Sims, Superintendent of the Rail Road Bureau, in
this City, for his approval. |
