I have already written you, under
instructions from Q. M. Genl. to ship corn as rapidly as possible to
Columbus & Macon, until both places are filled with it to their
capacity. I am this morning instructed further to write you to ship
corn to Atlanta, so soon as you shall learn that the cars from West
Point are running to that City. It seems probable that our earliest R.
R. connection with the West will be via Atlanta & it is desirable
to have some corn at our command in that region. |
