I have the honor to submit herewith a
letter of Capt. Thos R Sharp, A. Q. M. of date of 7th inst, enclosing
a receipt of W. L. Clark President of the Winchester & Potomac R.
R. Co. in favor of Capt. Sharp for three thousand tons of Rails
delivered on the line of said Rail Road, valued at $50 per ton,
under a contract made between the above mentioned parties, on the 11th
Sept. 1861, and approved by the Secy. of War which contract was sent
by this office to the Comptroller on the 29th of October. The
agreement stipulating that the iron shall be paid for from time to
time in transportation, the enclosures are sent to you, that you may
make on the books of your office a charge against the Rail Road Co.
for the iron delivered. |
