Sir, |
I have recd from Surgeon Cabell, in charge of the
Hospital at your post, a letter, asking that I would have the winter
fuel needed by the patients brought up by the
{Virginia} Central rail road; and expressing doubt whether it
could be procured in any other way. I have just written informing him of
the result of a conference I had with Mr Whitcomb Supt of that road. It
is beyond the power of the road to transport the wood, & I desire that
you will lose no time in making other suitable provision to insure a
supply. Terms can surely be procured in your vicinity to haul fuel; &
the country itself abounds in wood. During the mild spell that now
prevails you can lay in a supply ahead & I trust keep the Hospital from
want in this particular. Let me hear from you in reply. |
