| Your letter to Maj. L. Mims of 29th ultimo
in regard to payments made by him to you on account of indebtedness of
the Govt to your R. Road has been forwarded by him to this office. In it
you withdraw your statement of having been paid by him in 4 pr cent
certificates & state that you were paid in funds of the old issue which
were forwarded by you; in these circumstances this Bureau can afford no
relief. Payment was made in what was currency at the time & received by
all the creditors, who were paid prior to 1st April 1864. |
