I have received your letter of 5th inst, calling my
attention to the deficiency of rolling stock on the Orange & Alexandria
Rail Road. In answer I have to say that the subject has long since
attracted my attention, and I have endeavored to procure cars for that
particular road, without success, from the Southern Roads. Now that the
Federal Government has made their attack in South Carolina, not a car
will be spared from that section. I have ordered passenger and box cars
made and when finished will increase the stock where it is most needed. |
