| In reply to your application for the position of agent
at Petersburg to superintend Government transportation, I would inform
you that on the appointment of Capt Branch as Asst Quarter Master at
that point this duty was devolved on him, with the services of a very
good agent provisionally employed in attending to this business
{Mason Morfit} were there disposed with. I
have not therefore occasion to employ another. |
