It is not in my power to supply you with an engine to
be used exclusively for the transportation of Government freight as you
request in your letter of the 26th inst. |
It is very important that ordnance and ordnance stores
should be forwarded to the south without any delay, and I suggest that
you will represent to Mr Joynes, Prest of the Petersburg Rail Road, the
pressing necessity of immediate transportation the cannon and
ammunition, designed for Mobile and Apalachicola, and request that he
will supply you with proper facilities for removing them to the Depot of
his road. |
