New corn is fed to animals here, and with
the shucks, and such long forage, or substitute therefor as can be
obtained, is deemed sufficient. In the present great scarcity of
forage, officers of the Quarter Master's Department, must practice
economy in its consumption, and do the best they can, for the
sustenance of their animals. |
