You will please on receipt of this, obtain with as
little delay as possible ten laborers, and take them with you to
Bristol. Stop on the route from Bristol to this city at every point
where there is government freight, and freight for men and officers of
the army, detained either in cars, or by the way, and give those already
despatch to their destination. |
I am informed that there is a great deal of
freight which is turned off the track and is delayed only for the want
of labor to put the cars on the track and connect them with the engines,
also that loose boxes marked to Captains and various individuals are
delayed because the roads are afraid the freight will not be paid. |
You will devote your best efforts together along
speedily and then report to me in Richmond. |
