| The necessities for Government on the
Piedmont {Rail} Road requiring the use of
such an engine as the Mason Engines on the Petersburg R. R {may
mean the Richmond & Petersburg RR since they had two new Mason
locomotives -- the Jefferson Davis and the Holden Rhodes}. You will endeavor
to arrange with the President of that road for the use of such one of
these engines as you will select. Failing in this your will at once
impress the engine selected and have her transferred to Piedmont Road
as rapidly as possible. |
