| Your dispatch of yesterday received. I had
dispatched Major Chrisman twice to request your presence here for
conference. He telegraphed me on 31st that you would leave for
Richmond that night. I was therefore surprised by your inquiry of me.
After seeing the extraordinary conditions contained in your letter to
Major Chrisman I consider it unnecessary to trouble you to come to
Richmond. |
