Sir, |
The letter of Major Cabell in
regard to the delays in transportation on the Orange & Alexandria
R. Road, which by your endorsement was submitted to the War
Department, has been referred to this office, for attention. A letter
from Mr. Vandergrift, the Superintendent of that road, whose attention
was promptly called to this complaint, states that it was absolutely
necessary that the wood for the purposes of the road, should be
procured on the line of the {Virginia} Central
and the extension of the Orange road, but increased means of
transportation will be forwarded, so that no delay will result to
transportation of Government stores. |
