Yours of 4th ins has been received. Its
contents were anticipated by your telegram of that date to which I
replied, that should the SS RR fail to furnish you the transportation
required you would be sustained in the proposed stoppage of their
passenger trains. That assurance I now renew by letter, as all private
interests must yield to the necessities of Gen Lee's army. The road will
probably furnish the transportation that you require, if assured that
their passenger train can run only on that condition. Your letter has
been referred to Lt. Col. Sims, in charge of R. R. Transportation. |
