| In reference to obtaining iron for track on
New Bridge proposes to obtain it from NC RRd and proposes an exchange of
old iron for new. |

| I respectfully report that the Govt has no
iron which can be supplied to the C&S. The question of obtaining the
iron from the W&R RR {Wilmington, Charlotte &
Rutherford RR} by impressment can not be determined by this
office. It would seem to be a matter to be arranged between the
