States that Capt Morecock shipped him 34
pieces bacon & the RR Co delivered only four pcs the ??? hands stating
the balance that the bacon cost the Govt $100 pr bbs but cannot be
replaced for less than 200. The Prest of the Road offers to pay 100 for
the bacon but refuses to replace it. This he considers the cheaper mode
of funding RR hands & asks for instructions to ??? a settlement that
will serve the present & future situations. Referred by Comm Genl. |

The railroad co should be charged in all
cases the market value of the article at the time of the loss. Resply
