If any difficulty should arise in
procuring transportation for my iron I will send you an order which
will enable you to command transportation. It is of the utmost
importance that the iron should not be delayed a day. The Supt. of
the R. Road Virginia & Tennessee RR}
will furnish you transportation when notified of the importance of
the shipment. |

{The iron was for making horse
shoes and nails. The QM Department was no longer providing horse
shoes and nails for cavalry and artillery horses and this shipment
of iron was the first shipment with which the Department would make
its own shoes and nails.} |
