Having placed the Dept in my charge at
Atlanta GA fully and successfully under way and having now served the
country about two years I feel that I have probably done what should
be required of me and as I have two important Railways the Nashville
& Chattanooga and the Nashville & North Western RR Way
companies in my charge I feel that if I can be spared by the Quarter
Masters Dept that a higher duty calls me to the responsibilities of
the RRoad Companies in these times of scarcity of all materials and
labor necessary to their present location as they are mostly within
the enemys lines. |
Therefore I must respectfully
tender my resignation as Major and Quarter Master of C. S. A. to take
effect on the 15th day of May next. |
Most Respectfully |
