Sir, |
On the 8th instant I received order copy of which is
here enclosed, marked No 1. I addressed Message marked No 2 and
received reply marked No 3 and on the 9th received order marked No
4. On this day I received copy of order marked No 5 through the
President of the Company, as there appears to be some difference
opinion among our officers in regard to the meaning of the orders, I
respectfully ask explanation, being desirous of complying with the
letter and spirit of the orders. What I wish to know is whether the
order prohibits the transportation of all wheat corn hay and flour
from all points on our Road (either East or West of the Road) North
of Humbolt to points south of Humbolt, or whether it is only
intended to apply to the district West of the Rail Road throughout
its entire length as far as Masons Depot. |
I have the honor to be |
Your obedient servant |
