Demopolis Ala.  Dec 3rd 1862

I certify that the above list comprises a true and correct account of the iron rails, chairs, spikes, frogs & switches taken from the Alabama & Florida Rail Road Co of Florida then lying at Pollard Alabama, by order of General Braxton Bragg. Said seizure was made for the benefit of the Alabama & Mississippi Rivers Rail Road Company and the North East and South West Ala Rail Road Company, comprising the line of Road from Selma Ala to Meridian Miss. and has been used for the purpose of completing said Road. This iron was taken possession of by me on the 13th or 14th day of July last {1862}, at the same time I purchased the iron and wrought chairs equal in quality from the Eufaula Rail Road Co. {Montgomery & Eufaula RR} at $70 per ton for Rails and 10cts per lb for the Chairs and Spikes. On the 10th day of September I also purchased from the Cahaba, Marion & Greensboro Rail Road Company over one thousand tons of rails at $80 per ton and wrought chairs & spikes at 10cts per lbs and cast chairs at same price for each chair that the wrought chairs came to pr weight at 10cts per lb. If the cast chairs weighed double what the wrought ones did it would be 5cts per lb or in like proportion as to weight.
