Know all men by these
presents, That The Mobile & Great Northern Rail Road Company, a
company duly chartered and in corporated by an Act of the Legislature of
the State of Alabama, approved 15th day of February 1856, has made
constituted and appointed and by these presents does make, constitute
and appoint John F. Tanner, of the City of Richmond, State of Virginia,
its true and lawful attorney for and in the name of said corporation and
for its use to ask, demand and receive of the Government of the
Confederate States of America all and every such sum and sums of money,
debts and demands whatsoever as are now or hereafter may become due and
doing from the said Government unto the said Company and on receipt of
the same suitable receipts and acquaintances for the same for and in the
name of the company to make and deliver and to do all lawful acts and
things whatsoever concerning the premises as fully in every respect as
may be necessary. Hereby ratifying, allowing and confirming all and
whatsoever its said attorney shall, in its name, lawfully do in and
concerning the premises. |
In witness whereof the Mobile & Great Northern
Rail Road Company has caused this instrument to be signed of its
Resident, countersigned by its secretary and its corporate seal to
be hereto affixed the day and date above written. |
