Sir, |
I am informed that you have now or had
very lately in your employment a bricklayer named James Martin, a
detailed conscript, detached for the service of your company by Maj.
Walthall, Comdg. Camp Buckner, Talladega, Alabama and that this man has
nearly or quite completed the work for which he was detailed. |
I am greatly in need of bricklayers for
the prosecution of the Government works at this place, and therefore
respectfully request that you will inform me whether the man in question
is still in your employment, and if not where he is, so that I may
pursue his detail |
I am, Sir, &c |
J. W. Mallet, Major |
