Colonel, |
Mr. Tyler, Supt of the Macon & Western R.
R., who has much facilitated Govt work at this place by aid as regards
transportation, is making vigorous practical efforts to keep up the
rolling stock on his road by work at the Co's shops. He is greatly in
need of metal for his car box journals, and, is unable to buy any. He
wishes to purchase from the Govt. the borings and trimmings of bronze
(or Austrian metal) guns, and will pave for such the fair market price. |
He has requested me to write to you on the
subject and ascertain whether you ??? furnish him any of the metal he
needs. If you can do so it will indirectly facilitate Govt. work by
helping to keep this road in running order, the importance to us here is
very great. |
