Major, |
I have with much difficulty procured from
the Central {(of Georgia)} R. R. a train of
cars to carry lumber from a point upon this road to Atlanta, the lumber
being destined for Messrs. Pitts & Cook of Atlanta and, to be used in
the fulfillment of a contract with this establishment. The train will go
up to Atlanta in a day or two, probably on the day after tomorrow. The
Central R. R. Co have given me notice that if the cars are detained more
than three days they will be charged for at the rate of $12 per day each
until their return. It has in fact become almost impossible to procure
cars to go to Atlanta in consequence of the frequent seizures made of
them there and their being sent away loaded to distant points. |
I respectfully request therefore that you
will, if possible, secure these cars from any such seizure, so that they
may at once return here, empty if there be no freight immediately
ready for Macon. |
