Dr. Major, |
I have the honor to inform you that I have
this day shipped to the Columbus Iron Works via West Point, Atlanta &
West Point cars #140, 120, 118two loaded with nut coal the other with
mixed coal, |
Empty coal cars arrive here very slowly
indeed, yet there is no plan by which we can increase the supply, unless
the different Railroad Companies could be induced to increase their
present stock of coal cars, by putting sides to some of their flat cars,
now lying idle in their yards. |
I am doing the very best that can be done under
present circumstances, |
I understand last evening from some
Gentlemen who ought to be positive, that Pig Iron had gone up $50 per
ton in the last month, with every prospect of a further advance |
Yours Respectfully |
