Dr Sir, |
We this day shipped you two cars Lime ea
containing 40 Casks & hope it will reach you safely & all right. The
lime shipped you in 15th inst was not (all of it) in as good order as we
would have liked to send in but immediately upon receipt of your order
of 9th inst the lime was all recoopered & sent in good order expecting
immediate transportation for it but did not get transportation until
15th inst & did not then have any assurance four hours before we got it
that we would get it for a week or ten days to come. Suddenly however an
opportunity presented & I did not then have time to again recooper it &
I presumed you know enough about lime to know that all fresh lime will
shrink its barrells. Hopeing this explanation together with our extreme
anxiety to ship the lime will be sufficient apology we remain. |
Your Most Respectfully |
