| Colonel, |
| I have the honor to enclose herewith
triplicate of a contract entered into with F. S. Senn of Macon Bibb Co
Ga. for the supply and delivery of 200000 pine shingles for the service
of this Armory. I respectfully request your approval of the same. |
| I have contracted for these shingles in
anticipation of being compelled to cover the Armory buildings with a
temporary roof inasmuch as the slate for roofing are delivered very
slowly and the necessary quantity will not probably be available when
waited. |
| The supply of shingles, charcoal and wood
arranged to be supplied from Butler on the S. W. R. R.
{South Western RR} by the force of negroes
employed by Col. Cuyler for that purpose, I ??? cannot be relied on, by
reason (as I am informed by Col. Cuyler) of the great difficulty of
obtaining transportation on that R. Road, I am compelled therefore to
make other arrangements for the supply of these materials by contract. |
| I have the honor to be |
| Colonel |
| Respectfully Your Obdt Svt |
| Jas. H. Burton |
