Dear Sir,
Your favor of the 5th inst has been received and would have been answered before now only that I was awaiting the result of an effort made by the Supt of the M&B R. R. {Macon & Brunswick RR} to run a locomotive and a few cars on the temporary track to Dykes new mill. The result of that effort is a total failure.
You kindly propose to undertake to move the lumber with your own force of negroes, and I fear I shall be obliged to accept your offer, as at present I see no probability of the lumber being moved by the M&B R. R. Co. If you will undertake to remove the lumber I will of course be glad to compensate if you can go about it at once.
An early reply will oblige
Respectfully & Truly Yours
Jas. H. Burton
Supt.
