Colonel, |
I have arrived at this point, having been
somewhat delayed by slight accident on the R. R. and the state of the
roads, and shall if possible proceed to Abbeville tomorrow. As Columbia
has fallen, I shall go directly to Greenville, according to your
instructions. Maj. Bryan A. Q. M. at Milledgeville informed me that
there would by my return be no difficulty in transporting whatever
amount of stores I brought from Mayfield to Milledgeville
{about 35 miles}. The only doubt is from
Abbeville to this point {about 50 miles},
as the wagon train has not yet been established. This will probably be
done next week, & I shall bring the largest amount possible, and I hope
the whole. |
Very respectfully |
Your Obdt Servt |
