Major, |
I have received orders from Capt. Gorgas
Chief of Ordnance, to forward from this Armory to Columbia S. C. certain
Ordnance Stores. Five (5) box cars are required for this purpose, and
all together. Application was made at your office one week ago for these
cars, but, as yet, they have not been supplied. It is important that the
stores be forwarded without further delay, and I therefore respectfully
request to be informed when the cars will be ready for this purpose. |
I have also rec'd orders this
{date} from Col. Gorgas to ship to Savannah
all surplus stores, and machinery & tools not immediately required. I
shall be ready to commence shipping tomorrow, and have to request that
you will furnish the necessary transpn in box cars; -- open cars will
not answer. An early reply will oblige. |
Respectfully Your Obdt. Svt. |
