Colonel, |
I respectfully call your attention to the
subject of transportation of the roofing slate delivered by Mr Jas. F.
Dever at Cartersville Depot, on the line of the Western & Atlantic R. R.
north Georgia. Fifty squares of slate have been lying at that point for
over two months awaiting transportation to Macon, and in the mean time
the want of them is much felt at this Armory, the slate are much
damaged, and Mr Dever suffers serious loss. In view of these facts, in
connexion with the proximity of the slate quarries and Cartersville to
the enemy's lines it is important that prompt transportation should be
supplied for all the slate delivered at Cartersville. If I should be cut
off from this source of supply, there is no other nearer than Virginia
and I need not refer to the difficulties of getting slate from a point
so remote. I respectfully request that you will make an effort to secure
transportation for the slate now at Cartersville and hat to be delivered
there in future |
I have the honor to be Colonel |
Respectfully Your Obedt Servt |
Jas. H. Burton |
