In reply to yours of the 18th
inst. this moment received, I desire to say that we have but two Engines
in running order, vizt the "Allen" and "Ennis." Unfortunately we had one
damaged yesterday "running an Express." We are working night and day
trying to keep our Engines in order, and hope to have a third one on the
Road in four or five days. To comply with the order virtually stops the
running of the trains. The matter is now with you to act. The connection
is being made between the {Texas &} N. O. &
Central Roads as rapidly as possible. |
