Sir, |
Having been sent out as the Special Agent
of Major Richd P Waller to trace if possible twenty bales of missing
wool Consigned to Major W. Richmond, Va. This is to advise you that I
have the evidence of the Montgomery & West Point Road, that said
wool was turned over to the Atlanta & La Grange Road {Atlanta
& West Point RR} on the 29th of Jany and also the evidence
of the Atlanta & La G Road that said wool was turned over to your
road on the 2d Feby. In addition to this your books show that it was
received at your depot in one corner of time and stored in your local
depot, and was there until some time early in March, which fact Maj.
Wimmemons' Chief Clerk will testify (Mr. Shepherd). |
Your Agents claim that the said twenty
bales of wool were turned over to the S. C. Road sometime during the
month of March to be forwarded, which assertion is denied by the S. C.
Road, and not sufficiently established by you to relieve your road of
the responsibility. I must therefore inform you that Maj. Waller will
as soon as advised of this forward claim for reclamation. |
Please inform me if you acknowledge the
facts set forth in this note at your earliest convenience. |
Enclosed find memorandum of number Bales
Marks and original weights of the wool in question. |
Most Respectfully &c |
R C Fariss |
Special Agent |
