Major, |
After much delay and travel, I have traced
the lost twenty Bales of wool to the Depot of the Ga R Road at
Augusta. Enclosed you will find copy of my note to Geo. Yonge Esq Genl.
Supdt. of the road and his reply. You can see what I have done, and
that I have notified him that you would immediately forward claim for
reclamation, which claim I would have made but I was not aware at what
price to make the bill. My advice is that you forward this claim immediately.
The South Carolina Road positively denies having received this wool,
and I have therefore th?? the responsibility on the Ga Road. |
I would have returned and explained all of
these things in person, but the President has honored me with the
appointment of Commissioner under the Impressment Act, and ordered me
to report at Montgomery immediately. |
Thanking you for your uniform courtesy and kindness, I
have the honor to be |
Your friend and obt servant |
