I am not aware of any order ever being issued by Maj Gen Magruder
relative to the operation of telegraph. |
We have at all times rendered the repairs
of the telegraph every assistance in our power except the actual
repairs of wire it is impossible to use a train of cars as you do a
horse & buggy, when under way the engineer has to be the judge of
his ability to stop the train which is impossible on up or down grades
and at times when near stations the men as a general rule that are
sent to repair the wire expect the train hands to watch the
baracking in the wires & stop the train at the spot as they would
have to wait until they repair the wire. |
