Sir, |
As the President of the GH&H RR I had
the pleasure to call upon Genl. Magruder this A. M. for the purpose of
procuring an exemption from conscription for teamsters which I expect
to employ on the Rio Grande to haul Rail Road material and other
merchandise for the repairing of Locomotives & Cars the necessity
for which I stated to the Genl |
the Genl desires me to communicate in writing the
reasons for asking this exemption which I beg to do through you |
having consumed all material on hand there being none
in the State renders it important that the Co make an effort to obtain
supplies from abroad or the machinery of the Co will be beyond repairs
in a short time the importance of which I ask the consideration of
Comd Genl to release the teamsters in my employ from conscription |
Respectfully your |
J M Brown, Presdt |
