Mr Hollis agreeing to plank the Rail Road
over Galveston Bay {Galveston, Houston & Henderson
RR} between the rails or stringers, with sound three inch plank,
the whole length of the bridge between the now unplanked portion --
the plank to run parallel with the rails, and the space between them to
be two inches or less. Mr Hollis also agrees to spike each plank with
two six inch spikes when ever they touch the cross ties, and where ever
two planks meet at the ends, to reach over the cross ties at least three
inches. Mr Hollis further agrees to brace across the plank, with a stout
board whenever the cross ties are over nine feet apart, or where ever a
board under ten inches wide is laid. The whole to be done in a workman
like manner and to be completed within twelve working days from monday
next the 18th day of November 1861. |
Mr Hollis agrees to furnish all materials
and workmen for the above purpose, except transportation. |
Mr Hollis further agrees to forfeit Thirty Dollars per
day for every day the work is not completed after the above
specified time. |
T. S. Moise Maj Qr Mr C. S. A. agrees to
furnish transportation for Mr Hollis' workmen and lumber, for said work
and to pay Mr Hollis when completed and in funds Five thousand Eight
hundred Dollars. |
