is unclear. The Georgia RR is close to 100 miles from Dalton, so I
suspect that the work to be done was to re-connect the Western &
Atlantic RR, at Dalton, to the East Tennessee & Georgia RR, which
had reached Dalton before the war, but had probably been broken during
