It is very expensive to us and
takes from his office one of our best officers much of his time, to
collect our earnings at Richmond. Having Mr. Bridge to pay for (and an
experienced one at that) we are in need of our earnings for December
and it would be a great accommodation if you would instruct Dr.
Bumelson to settle with us here. I pledge you my honor that every
voucher shall be correct and not one cent of an overcharge. If we ???
ourselves we would feel that we were engaged in a very disreputable
business in taking improperly any bodys money, much less that of the
Confederate States. |
