Dear Sir, |
This will be handed you by Mr. J. Lamb,
our agent for collecting negroes to work on fortifications in this
vicinity. Gen. Lee, the Secretary of War, and Col. Gilmer, Chief
Engineer of the Army are all urging forward these works. Under these
circumstances I should be under obligations if you can possibly give us
an extra train or attach extra cars to your train on Thursday 11th at
Charlottesville. Mr. Lamb will explain every thing connected with the
request. |
Very Resp. & Truly Yours |
