| Your letter of the 15th inst.
acknowledging receipt of mine of 24th Aug. and of 3d Sept. has been
received. The Bureau is pleased to learn the satisfactory progress being
made in the defenses of Atlanta, as also that you have succeeded in
procuring the necessary negro laborers. |
| Mr. Hazlehurst, concerning whom you
received a dispatch of the 9th last. from the Bureau, has already
visited Richmond. |
| If you find a safe opportunity, it would
be well to forward the receipts to Mr. B. E. Green without delay, in
order that the business with him may be closed, as directed in my
previous letter. |
