You will proceed to
the bridge of the {Virginia} Central R. Rd. of Va.
across the South Anna River
and make careful examination of the ground in the vicinity and lay out
such works as may be best suited for the defence of the bridge. The
labor for the construction of the works will be furnished by Col.
Moore Commd'g the troops at the station. |
Lt. Dade Engr Corps will accompany you as
an assistant. You will communicate to him fully your plans for the
contemplated works in order that he may be the better able to
supervise from time to time their construction. Having completed the
duty assigned to you, you will return to Richmond. |
